Pissouri Kitesurfing Holidays

Many people think the windy bay is all there is to Pissouri, but 3km up the road is the village of Pissouri. The traditional Cypriot village has and a fantastic nightlife, especially on Wednesday, when there are balancing acts and dancers in the square, adding to the amazing atmosphere in the town square.

Pissouri is a great all round kitesurfing holiday destination, as it offers lovely accommodation, strong winds, and a family friendly atmosphere. Generally the water is choppy, though the bay is more protected from wind driven swell, as the wind is lighter. But for advanced kiters, they only need to go out past the wind line for full force wind, and awesome jumping conditions.

The people of Cyprus are known for being warm and welcoming. Though their native tongue is Greek, English is widely spoken all over the island. In a world where violence is ever increasing, the crime rate on the island is exceptionally low.

Cyprus experiences long dry summers and mild winters which are separated by short autumn and spring seasons. Overall, Cyprus is split into two seasons: Steady southwest sea breezes in the summer which average between 16 and 20 knots, with 5/6 days perfect wind a week. The conditions are fairly flat with some chop inside the bay, which turns a lot choppier once outside the bay.

The wind in the winter is much more sporadic, it comes from various directions, varying in strength. The sea state is also a lot rougher, and would only be suitable for good intermediates/experienced kiters with waves reaching double head high.

There are kids clubs at the Columbia resort for children aged 3-12, during holidays. Non kitesurfing family members have a beautiful place to relax in, and a choice of luxury hotels, with spas, pools, and stunning views. The nightlife in the town of Pissouri is also great for families. There are no clubs, just a really great, fun atmosphere, and a huge choice of amazing restaurants.

One of the most appealing things about Cyprus as a holiday destination, is how beautiful the entire country is. The views from the Troodos Mountains are just spectacular, the perfect day trip for those wanting to venture away from the beaches.
