DAHAB KITESURF HOLIDAYS OVERVIEW
A Dahab Kitesurfing Holiday leaves visitors in awe at the extreme landscapes. The radical change in scenery and climate is enough to allow you to feel in a different world, yet Dahab is only around a 5 hour flight away. Along the beautiful promenade of Dahab town, you will be offered traditional Egyptian or western fare. As Dahab is not too touristy, you can really experience the traditional Egyptian lifestyle here.
THE CLIMATE IN DAHAB
During the winter months of November to March the Red Sea coastal spots of Egypt offer a very comfortable 22 - 28 c, perfect for a little of winter sun. As you head into the summer months the temperature rises steeply, peaking to around 40c in August! However, the high temperatures are made more comfortable with very low humidity and a constant seas breeze. During the winter months we would recommend between 7 and 5 mm wetsuit but then only a 3mm shortie for the mid summer months.
THE KITESURF SPOT IN DAHAB
Dahab was for a long time exclusive to windsurfers with only a very small tidal kitesurf lagoon. But now, with the opening of the new Bay View Hotel, Planet are pleased to open this superb resort to kitesurfers for the first time ! The spot at the Bay View is perfect for complete beginners and improvers with shallow flat water right outside the hotel.
THE WIND IN DAHAB
The wind at the Hilton blows cross-offshore to offshore, at Le Meridien the wind blows sideshore.
THE ACCOMMODATION IN DAHAB
There are two main areas to stay in Dahab; the Lagoon or Masbat (the local beach front town). We work only with hotels on the Lagoon as in Masbat the standard of accommodation is very poor. On the Lagoon you will find several excellent 4 and 5 star hotels.
ACTIVITIES IN DAHAB
With the hotel standard around the lagoon generally being very fairly high, there is lots of pampering on offer, especially for non windsurfing partners to indulge in. The Red Sea is one of the worlds best scuba diving destination, where you will find several schools running courses for all levels. Or snorkelling is also a must, with various deserted bays boasting some stunning underwater sights.
Alternate land activities are Yoga, Belly Dancing, Quad Biking, Camel Rides, Bicycle Hire, Tai Chi, and visiting the luxurious spas
Other watersports available with a Dahab windsurfing holiday are Kitesurfing, Diving, waterskiing, and wakeboarding. You can’t get better conditions for wake boarding and waterskiing for when the wind doesn’t blow, with water so flat, it’s definitely something to take advantage of.
NIGHTLIFE IN DAHAB
A trip out into the desert at night to a Bedouin Village for dinner and some stargazing is an interesting way to spend the evenings. Or there are lots of bars and restaurants to relax at in Dahab. You could head into Masbat which is an exotic blend of Bedouins, Egyptians and Backpackers.
KIDS IN DAHAB
Dahab has some of the most perfect conditions available for teaching kids. The early morning light winds, and specialised kids equipment mean they will be up and going in no time. With the wind increasing throughout the day, kids can also start windsurfing in slightly stronger winds, so they’ll be pro in no time.
