KITESURFING HOLIDAYS IN NORTHERN MAURITIUS
The north of Mauritius has a huge amount to offer visitors on a kitesurfing holiday in the Indian Ocean, with beautiful windy beaches, along with the best shopping and nightlife in Mauritius. Grand bay is the centre of life in the north. It has something to offer everyone with its numerous shops, galleries, and shopping centres. Grand Bay is home to the livliest nightlife in Mauritius, thanks to the large number of superb restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
The kitesurfing in the north offers something for all levels of kitesurfing, with flat areas, and wave spots. Our main areas are Grand Bay, Grand Gaube, and Cap Malheureux. Grand Bay is named for the huge sheltered blue lagoon, perfect for families. Cap Malheureux is better suited for more advanced riders with wave spots along the coast. Grand Gaube is a great all round kite spot, with great learning conditions, and downwinders.
KITESURFING AT CAP MALHEUREUX
The kite beach at Cap Malheureux has a fairly technical entry, which beginners may struggle with, but shouldn’t be a problem for intermediates and above. However you will find, 100 meters to the left, a perfect long white sand beach with good wind for launching on east and northeasterly days.
Riding conditions are usually best in southeasterly, but works well with east and northeasterly conditions, and although very rare, northwesterly winds can also be good as well.
Be sure to ask the locals about the best areas and work your way out carefully, as there are coral reefs that surround the beaches here.
There are several great wave spots, which will satisfy wave lovers, though care must be taken as reefs can become exposed in low tides.
KITESURFING AT GRAND GAUBE
Grand Gaube is one of the largest kitesurfing spots in Mauritius with a hugue shallow water area, kiters have an abundance of space whether practicing tricks, or taking their first steps in learning this amazing sport.
The wind is side shore in Grand Gaube, which offers beginners a safe environment for learning, and more experienced kiters the possibility to downwind along the coast.
