A snow-kiting event of epic proportions

The Red Bull Ragnarok snowkiting event took place between 30 March and 2 April 2017 in Haugastøl, Norway with 350 kiters turning up for this race of epic proportions!

Taking place on the flat plains of Hardangervidda, the race had a mass start which included kiters in both the ski and snowboard categories and to complete the race riders had to do five laps of the complicated course in five hours – a total of 130 kilometres.

The wind was described by some competitors as the ‘best conditions ever’ – a consistent 40 knots on the hills while light conditions challenged riders in the valleys! The extreme conditions meant endurance was paramount to succeed and only eight of the entries finished the course.
