During a beginners kitesurfing holiday<\/a>, you will spend a portion of your time with a kitesurf instructor. The amount of time will depend on how many other students are in your group. While it is more fun and sociable to learn with other people, if you really want to progress, then private tuition is always a good option.<\/p>\n

Beginner courses usually last around three to four days, with around three hours of lessons each day. Although, this does depend on wind and water conditions. At the end of your beginner course, your instructor will give you some advice on how best to progress, what you need to work on, and how to build strength that will help with your technique. Kitesurfing safety has come a long way in the last decade or so but you should always err on the side of caution and you should never try and launch on your own. The first thing you will learn is how to handle the kite, getting a feel for how it moves with your feet on terra firma. Understanding how the kite moves and reacts is key to progressing in kitesurfing. You will also learn how to launch and land safely, perhaps the two most important manoeuvres.<\/p>\n

Next, you\u2019ll practice body dragging, which involves using the kite on the water with no board. Once you\u2019re comfortable, you can introduce the board and start to build confidence and skills on the water. Your instructor will accompany you on the first few runs until you have the basics. From then on, it\u2019s just practice.<\/p>\n

Of course, lessons and tuition programmes vary from school to school, as do teaching methods. But the order in which you learn is generally the same around the world.<\/p>\n
