Overview

Torel Avantgarde is a brand-new, five-star boutique hotel in Porto - opened in early September 2017. The concept of Avantgarde is based on the building, which originates from the Estado-Novo period, i.e. the 1940s. The vision was to establish a place where art is not only an add-on, but takes centre stage in every way. The result is Torel Avantgarde, where you can fully immerse yourself into art, absorbing it in all its expressions. It is a space to live art, to touch art, and to feel the heart and passion of the artist.

Accommodation

All of the rooms in Torel Avantgarde are named after a famous Avantgarde artist from the fields of art, design, literature, and science: Ranging from Francis Bacon, Charles & Ray Eames, Amadeu Souza-Cardoso to Alberto Giacometti. The design and decoration of each room reflects the personality and specific vision of the artist. Of the 27 rooms and 20 suites, 37 have a view to the river and to Gaia, and 15 have a balcony. 

Dining

Occupying a prime Porto location, the restaurant Digby is located in the Hotel Torel Avantgarde. Those who come here will find a breathtaking view of the Douro River and the beautiful town of Vila Nova de Gaia. The restaurant will offer a cuisine with a fundamentally contemporary soul where the flavors of Portuguese gastronomy prevail with ingredients of quality and, above all, of national origin. In the menu you will find original and prestigious dishes from Casa da Comida, but you will also enjoy original and carefully prepared cuisine with a sophisticated detail in its presentation.

The Balsamea spa includes a gym, a hammam and two massage rooms while the outdoor pool offers amazing views over the city and sea. Other facilities include 24 hrs-room service, concierge, laundry service, airport transfers (upon request) and babysitting (upon request).
