Rainforest Eco Lodge Overview

The Rainforest Ecolodge is situated in the Sinharaja Division of the Enselwatte Estate in Deniyaya. This plot of previously cultivated tea land borders the south-western fringe of the Sinharaja forest reserve. Sinharaja rainforest is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site inscribed in 1988. The Sinharaja is also a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a Biodiversity Hotspot as designated by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). All these titles highlight the importance of the forest reserve and hence the location of the Ecolodge in terms of its biodiversity as well as its fragility. In selecting this location, the importance of committing to the conservation of its surroundings and promoting the cause through its development and operations.

Rainforest Eco Lodge Accomodation

Feel at home within 16 comfortable Chalets that are designed with recycled material and adorned with every amenity imaginable. The Chalets are situated among the tea patch and offer guests breathtaking views of the forest canopy and tea estate that provide for lasting memories. Experience the vibrant shades of nature all at once. The interior is ideally decorated with bamboo paneling while the floor and private deck done with rejected railway sleepers. Each chalet consists of a bedroom, a washroom, a living area and a private deck.

Enjoy the scrumptious cuisine prepared by the expert panel of culinary specialists, all signature dishes served at The Rainforest are prepared with fresh fruit and vegetables from the local village. Meats and seafood brought in from Galle. After you enter through the imposing entrance of the Rainforest Ecolodge, a series of metal walkways leads to the lounge, dining room and reading room. All have spectacular tea plantation and jungle views. The open sided dining room is served by a well-equipped kitchen.

Rainforest Eco Lodge Activities

Take a trek through the quaint paths of Sinharaja where placid undergrowth lie in wait for the appreciation of all who wish to indulge in an adventure to the tranquil wilderness of Sri Lanka’s world renowned rainforest. Go trekking in Sri Lanka on a range of specially designed routes made available to guests, varied by altitude, direction and the clusters of wildlife found in each area.

There are a few nature trails designed for discerning traveler to enjoy the scenery, the biodiversity and experience the rainforest eco-system. You may encounter many life forms, both flora and fauna, in this expedition. They are all free for you to observe, but please take extra care not to harm or disturb them.

Guests get the greatest opportunity of benefiting from a natural fish spa therapy in a natural water steams. This temperature will create a relaxing feeling to the customer where they could receive a tingling massage from the dozens of toothless fish in natural water steams in the Sinharaja Rainforest. These type of fish are known as doctor or nibble fish. They suck and gently nibble away at dry and dead skin. The end result will leave your feet feeling refreshed and healthy.
