On this tailor-made private ten-day tour you'll visit some of the country's finest historical monuments, mosques, minarets and medinas, as you explore the vibrant cities of Marrakech, Fez and Rabat. Finish your holiday with a three-night stay in the charming port town of Essaouira, home to picuresque, white-washed streets, traditional fishing communities and dramatic windswept beaches looking out to the Atlantic Ocean.

  • Days 1 - 3

Hotel: 4* Riad Talaa12, Marrakesh Breakfast

Arrive in the 'Red City' of Marrakech.

  • Days 4 - 5

Hotel: 5* Riad Fez - Relais and Chateau, Fez Breakfast and Lunch in day 4

Transfer to Fez, stopping for a picnic along the way. Fez is the oldest and grandest of Morocco's imperial cities, with a warren of streets burrowing through its medieval medina that all travellers should get lost in at least once in their lives. Of particular note are the city's famous tanneries and there are various vantage points from which you can watch the tanners at work, balancing between vats of vibrant dyes before plunging into the one they need. A full-day private tour on day five with your driver and a guide will ensure you see the best of the city.

  • Days 6 - 7

Hotel: 5* Rabat Sofitel, Rabat Breakfast

Two interesting stops are made between Fez and the capital Rabat. The first is at the Roman ruins of Volubilis, the best-preserved archaeological site in Morocco. The second is at Meknes, whose monumental gates hint at a time when this modest and beguiling city was the capital of the Moroccan sultanate. Once in Rabat, enjoy an afternoon city tour before retiring for the night at your chosen hotel.

  • Days 7 - 8

    Rabat - Casablanca - Oualidia - Essaouira

Hotel: 5* Villa De Lo, Essaouira Breakfast and Lunch

Depart early to leave time to visit the staggering Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, the largest mosque in Africa, before heading to Oualidia for lunch. This idyllic, crescent-shaped lagoon is fringed by golden sands and sheltered from the Atlantic by a rocky breakwater. Enjoy lunch (included) in perfect peace at La Sultana Oualidia as fishermen, surfers and occasionally pink flamingos go about their business on the beach below. Continue after lunch to Essaouira and check in at your hotel for a three-night stay.

  • Days 8 - 12

Hotel: 5* Villa De Lo, Essaouira Breakfast

Essaouira is one of the most picturesque ports on the coast - a car-free town with a far more mellow souk than those of Fez or Marrakech, surrounded by dramatic ramparts and abutted by a long, windswept beach. Fishermen and boat builders go about their business much as they have done for centuries, and artists and craftsmen have opened galleries and workshops along the narrow, whitewashed streets. After an initial half-day tour, you'll have the rest of your time here to explore at your own pace.

  • Day 12

    Hotel: * , Breakfast

After breakfast you'll transfer to the airport in Marrakech for your flight home, or you could choose to extend your stay to visit the spectacular Atlas Mountains.

    Atlas Mountains extension

From Essaouira travel to the Atlas Mountains for a stay in either Richard Branson's superb Kasbah Tamadot (deluxe) or The Capaldi (superior), an intimate country retreat located in the foothills of the Atlas.
