This 13-day South African odyssey begins with a stay in the stunning Cape Winelands, where you'll enjoy your choice of luxury accommodation and the chance to explore and sample some of South Africa's best wineries. Next you'll spend four days discovering the delights of Cape Town, including Table Mountain, Robben Island and the boutiques, bars and restaurants of the V&A Waterfront.

Depart Cape Town on the luxurious Blue Train for an incredible overnight journey to Pretoria, enjoying first-class service and comfort as you travel in style through the stunning landscapes of central South Africa. Spend a night in Pretoria before finishing your South Africa holiday with a five-day safari in the spectacular surrounds of the Motswari Private Game Reserve, home to the Big Five.

  • Days 1 - 3

    Cape Winelands

    Accommodation: 5* Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch Breakfast

    Arrive in Cape Town where you'll be met and transferred to your chosen hotel in the Cape Winelands. Choose either the Grande Roche in Paarl or Majeka House in Stellenbosch.

    Grande Roche, located amid sprawling vineyards at the foot of Paarl Rock, offers guests a blend of privacy, tranquility and luxury, coupled with first-class service and a sense of stepping into a bygone era. Enjoy award-winning dining, soak up the history of the hotel's centuries-old buildings, take a refreshing dip in the secluded swimming pool and enjoy magnificent views of the spectacular landscapes surrounding the hotel on all sides.

    Majeka House is a luxury boutique property, which makes the perfect base to explore the historic town of Stellenbosch, its surrounding vineyards and award-winning wineries. Rooms here are beautifully furnished, combining classic design with modern touches. The pool is delightful, as is the superb restaurant, but it's the spa that really steals the show, offering a range of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments, along with an indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.

  • Days 3 - 7

    Cape Town

    Accommodation: 4* Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel, Cape Town Breakfast

    Make your way back to Cape Town and check into the Victoria & Alfred Hotel, a luxury property located in the heart of the city's iconic V&A waterfront, where you'll find designer boutiques, museums and exhibits, and an abundance of bustling bars and restaurants.

    Spend four days exploring Cape Town, a city renowned for its natural beauty, diverse culture, fascinating heritage sites and world-class shopping and dining.

    Head to the top of Table Mountain for 360º views of the Cape Peninsula; explore the Table Mountain National Park, recognised for its rich biodiversity; take a trip to Robben Island, the notorious prison where Nelson Mandela was held captive for 18 years; and visit one of the city's townships, built during the time of apartheid, to gain an insight into Cape Town's chequered past, while catching a glimpse of a far brighter future.

  • Days 7 - 8

    Blue Train

    Accommodation: 5* Blue train, Cape Town Breakfast, Lunch and dinner

    Depart Cape Town this morning on the luxurious Blue Train as you head north through the magnificent landscapes of central South Africa to the city of Pretoria, the country's administrative capital.

    Enjoy a pre-dinner drink and snack at Cape Town station, before one of the train butlers shows you to your suite. At 08:30 your journey begins as you leave the coast behind and head into the spectacular South African interior, bound for Matjiesfontein where you'll enjoy a 45-minute off-train excursion, taking in the Victorian-era buildings of this small colonial outpost. Sip on a glass of sherry at the bar before the train departs, heading north towards Pretoria. In the afternoon you'll be served high tea, followed by pre-dinner drinks and a sumptuous supper, served across two sittings in the trains elegant restaurant car*.

    *Please note, gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie for dinner, while ladies are required to wear elegant evening wear.

  • Days 8 - 9

    Pretoria

    Accommodation: * , Breakfast

    Breakfast is served on board between 07:30 and 10:00 on a first-come-first-served basis. Alternatively, breakfast can also be taken in the privacy of your suite if you prefer. At around 12:50 you'll arrive in Pretoria, where you'll depart the train and transfer to your chosen hotel.

  • Days 9 - 12

    Mostwari Private Game Reserve

    Accommodation: * , Breakfast

    Transfer from your hotel in Pretoria to Johannesburg Airport, where you'll board a flight to Hoedspruit, gateway to the Kruger National Park. On arrival you'll be met and transferred to the Motswari Private Game Reserve, which sits within the Timbavati Nature Reserve, shares an open border with the Kruger National Park and plays host to an abundance of wildlife, including the fabled Big Five of lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino.

    Check into Motswari Game Lodge, an exclusive safari lodge, which hosts no more than 30 guests at any one time. The beautifully appointed en-suite bungalows boasts wonderful views of the surrounding bush and provides the perfect sanctuary at the end of an exciting day exploring the reserve.

    During your stay in Motswari you'll enjoy morning and evening game drives in open Land Rovers with professional guides and trackers, mid-morning bush walks and fascinating safari lectures. All meals, including brunch, high tea and dinner, are included during your stay.

  • Day 13

    Departure

    Accommodation: * , Breakfast

    Your South African adventure comes to an end. Transfer to Hoedspruit Airport in time for your onward flight to Johannesburg and onward to the UK.
