Chamarel is well known for its seven coloured earth. These dunes of volcanic earth display a number of different shades making it quite a sight to see. Purples, yellows and reds mold together to form a stunning colour palette. Also be sure to keep an eye out for the giant tortoises that roam here!
7. Cruise with the dolphins
The west coast of Mauritius is home to bottlenose and spinner dolphins, and you can join a catamaran cruise to see them from Tamarin Beach. Just be sure to find a sustainable operator that won’t harass the dolphins. It is an experience not to be missed.
8. Visit the extinct dodo
Kids can learn all about this extinct species in the Dodo Gallery of the Natural History Museum in Port Louis. This Mauritius native bird is fascinating and the kids will love all the exhibits.
