Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel General Impression

This beautiful beach hotel, located on the northernmost peninsula of Zanzibar Island, overlooks a twinkling expanse of iridescent Indian Ocean, a bunch of whitewashed and palm thatched cottages in a glorious natural paradise. Its pathways are shaded by palms, creating soft sun-dappled walkways.

The hotel makes use of ancient local building traditions to institute a contemporary architectural opening from natural materials. All main structures are open-air; makuti-thatched ceilings arch high overhead, allowing all to luxuriate in the space, light and environment that this unique location affords.

The hotel's deck-level swimming pool is lined with glass mosaic tiles in shades of blue, and commands stunning views of the Indian Ocean. Interiors are beautifully decorated in ethnic style, with inspired use of local fabrics such as khangas, kikois and kitenges.

Accommodation

Accommodation is in charming thatched chalets or lodge rooms, each with a private balcony and en-suite facilities. All rooms count on beautiful hardwood furniture, magnificent fabrics, and hand-crafted four poster beds shrouded beneath billowing mosquito nets.

Restaurants & Bars

An English breakfast is served daily and comprises an enchanting buffet with cereals, additional fruit, breads and pastries, preserves, yoghurt, and eggs cooked to order. For lunch, enjoy delicious daily specials, alternatively, the hotel's delectable a la carte menu can and be experienced in the open-air restaurant, by the pool, on the beach, or at the Jahazi Beach Bar. A five course aliment d'hote menu is served for soiree with occasional seafood buffets and barbeque dinners on offer.

Connoisseurs will also appreciate the winelist, the most extensive in the region, selected to appeal to all palettes and tastes.
