Did you know...
After coffee, Kenya’s biggest income generator is tourism with the country's wildlife unrivaled by any other, in terms of numbers and variety of species. Kenya's Great Rift Valley is also home to some of the world's oldest known paleontological records.
After intensive investigation into all the spots along this coast line Planet have chosen to offer Diani Beach as our preferred kitesurfing holiday destination in East Africa. Here you will find one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, away from the main tourist areas found in Mombasa North Coast. Here at Planet we endeavour to provide impartial advice on all our destinations and enjoy making tailor-made itineraries to suit your exact requirements. This is especially important in Kenya, as there is such an extensive choice of activities, both above and below the water.
Watamu is a small village on the Northern Kenyan coast, around a 3-hour transfer from Mombasa Airport (or just 30 minutes from Malidi airport). The area is absolutely stunning with pristine white-sand beaches and reef-protected lagoons; Watamu was voted one of the top ten beaches in the world!
The shoreline in the area features offshore coral formations arranged in three bays: Watamu Bay, Blue Lagoon and Turtle Bay. They are protected as part of the Watamu Marine National Park. The area provides a perfect spot to learn kitesurfing or for flat water freestyle.
