Dakhla Kitesurfing Holidays Overview
In the middle of the western Sahara, a 2 hours flight from Casablanca, is a town called Dakhla situated on a small peninsula bordering the Atlantic coast called Rio de Oro. Stretching South from the small town is a huge lagoon that we think God must have made just for Kitesurfers, Wing Foilers and Windsurfers! It is one of the most perfect spots for these sports on the planet. This stunning lagoon with an incredible year around wind, is a true Kitesurf, Wing and Windsurf paradise.
The wind stats in this area are just astounding so you can sail the whole year in Dakhla (even in December & January, the lowest wind season, it is still 60% reliable)!! The water is perfectly flat with huge shallow areas; just perfect for beginners & improvers; simply the best spot on earth to learn to kitesurf (or Wing Foil).
In recent years the accommodation options have taken a big step up, and we can now offer some quite high standard luxury stays. With these new luxury-end properties, it is also possible to travel with a non-kiting partner or family (as long as they don’t mind the remote location). We only work with the best hand-picked accommodations in Dakhla; if it is not on our website it is because it does not meet our high standards.
Other Activities In Dakhla

The Kitesurf And Wing Foiling Spots In Dakhla
Dakhla is a massive lagoon with many different spots for kitesurfing and wing foiling in flat water or waves. Choosing the right location to fit you level and sport is essential, although most kitesurf and wingfoiling centres will offer trips around to other spots.
Main Lagoon - by this we refer to the most Northerly part of the lagoon sandwiched between the Dakhla Peninsular and the desert, where there is the biggest number of accommodations. Here the water is always pretty flat and you are never far from a wide-open beach to get back to. The very North end of the lagoon can get pretty crowded (especially as there are no around 5 kite school sharing this spot), so it is better to stay further South, or kite downwind a bit, to avoid the crowds
Speed Spot - just a little further South from the ‘Main Lagoon’ and around to the left, is am amazing speed spot where the water is butter flat. You can either drive here or kite from the main lagoon (tide depending). This is one of the best spots in Dakhla for the independent kiter.
White Dune - If you are an intermediate to advanced Kite surfer you can experience a 13km downwinder from the main lagoon to a spot called White Dunes in Dakhla. This is a beautiful scenic spot, set behind a massive dune, with butter-flat water.
Lassarga Wave Spot - the best wave in Dakhla is based at the Lassarga Property, at the very end of the peninsular where the Atlantic Ocean enters the lagoon. This is an amazing clean and easy wave so you do not have to be a pro to give it a go. The best time of year for waves is October through to April.
Oum Lamboiur wave spot - another good spot for waves, next to the ‘Westpoint’ accommodation, but does not always work, and can be a bit ‘narly’ if the condition are not just right.
The Pond - A really special wild super flat water spot located in the wild more southern part of the lagoon next to the luxury La Tour DEole property. It is tidal and only flooded for about 9 days every month.
There are many other spots in Dakhla but these are the main ones to consider when planning your kitesurfing holiday to Dakhla
