Madikwe Dithaba Lodge Overview

Dithaba Lodge is situated in Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuaries, covering 76 000ha, which is also malaria-free. Madikwe is home to the Big Five, endangered African wild dog, and 60 other mammal species. The reserve also offers excellent birdwatching, with over 350 resident species.

Dithaba (meaning ‘mountain’ in the local dialect) is located higher up in the Madikwe Game Reserve and has a spectacular view over the open plains. With only four suites (each with private plunge pool), this lodge is well suited to a group of friends or family members making it their own while on safari. Or for those who simply prefer the sound of nature and little else. 

Children of 16 and over are welcome, unless the lodge is booked exclusively then children of all ages are welcome.

Activities And Facilities

Dithaba Lodge's suites all feature private plunge pools and there is a central open plan lounge and dining area. Your suite includes an in-room minibar (selected complimentary items), Wi-Fi (all areas), all meals, including afternoon tea, teas/coffees and selected local beverages (including soft drinks, beers, spirits, and house wines), and two game drives per day, with refreshments and snacks.

Game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles which head out each day at sunrise and again in the late afternoon to find the reserve’s many fascinating animals, both diurnal and nocturnal. Bush walks are also offered after-breakfast. These walks on the wild side immerse guests in the bush and are tailored to their area/s of interest i.e. mammals, birds, insects, plants, geology, etc. Madiwe Safari Lodge offers walking safaris to guests over the age of 16 and under the age of 60. Should you be over the age of 60 and would like to join in this activity, kindly obtain a medical clearance certificate from your doctor prior to your stay.
