Some of the most beautiful and exhilarating mountain biking in the mountains. Deep sea fishing, Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, and loads more.
Very good good normal bad
Bajas ‘El Norte’ winds blow down the Sea of Cortez from November to March providing some of the best bump and jump conditions this side of the equator. Friendly morning breezes are perfect for longboarding, while stronger winds typically kick in around mid-day. With winds above 18mph, a widely spaced rolling swell is created. Water temps range from 65-74F, so a shortie or summer wetsuit is recommended.
There is no end to the fun things to do in Baja. Mountain bike along coastal and scenic desert single-track trails. Glide along clear blue waters in a sea kayak. Snorkel among colorful tropical fish. Activities below are all part of a holiday to Loss Barriles, provided by the centre.
The centre has a fleet of brand-new Specialized Rockhopper Comp Disc-Brake (hard-tail) mountain bikes for your enjoyment. They offer guided rides and mountain bike clinics. Be sure to take your own bike shorts, gloves, shoes, and clipless pedals if desired. (If you wish to ride with your kid on board, please also take a child seat and helmet.)
There is a fleet of sea kayaks available for guests use at time in the day. Tandem kayaks also available.
The centre has a range of snorkelling equipment, and the staff can advise where the best spots are
There are decent tennis courts located at the Hotel Palmas de Cortez and available for guest use, though you should take your own racquet and balls.
Guided day trips and hikes to scenic areas:
For days when the wind doesn't blow, the staff love to organise excursions for guests. These include a range of endeavors from hikes in the coastal moutain ranges, snorkeling trips to Punta Pescadero, surfing/boogieboarding trips to the Pacific side, shopping trips to San Jose del Cabo. You never know what's next in Los Barrlies...but you're never bored!
Windsurfing Videos and other films will be shown during the week. Videos are made from time to time throughout the day, with a free margarita for the best wipeout.
Every Wednesday evening the centre will host a beach bonfire in front of the Playa del Sol. If you play a musical instrument, feel free to bring it along.
Swim With Dolphins:
Since February 2006 Cabo Dolphin Center has been making dreams come true. If you have swimming with dolphins on your 'things to do before I die' list, take a morning or a light wind day to visit Cabo for this unforgettable experience which the centre will be more than happy to help you organise.
There are loads of activities for kids and families as you can see from the activities section. Los Barriles is in a fairly secluded area, though the extent of activities does make this a good family option. Kids camps are also run by the centre at peak times, which will introduce kids to a variety of watersports, and make sure they have an awesome time. Please check with us for weeks that the kids camps are arranged.
The nightlife is Los Barriles is definitely livelier if you like your tequila! Other wise they are pretty mellow, with an emphasis on chilling out round the bar, watching videos, and movies of the day, and talking about your day on the water, with guests form around the world.
