Although there are over 160 resorts and a multitude of exquisite islands, there are just a few islands that have unobstructed lagoons facing the prevailing wind direction, backed up by professional kitesurf schools. That is why we, at Planet Kitesurf Holidays, have personally visited and inspected the resorts we offer and hand-picked only the best islands to provide you with a kitesurfing holiday like no other.
Although the Maldives is not a high wind destination, from the months of May to October, these islands can make for a stunning kitesurf holiday for couples and families. The Maldives is home to some of the most beautiful small islands on Earth, providing safe havens with no distractions, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy your time off, surrounded by turquoise lagoons and warm crystal clear waters. Our hand-picked island resorts offer world class facilities for both couples and families, with some of the best value Maldives holidays prices during the 'low season' windy period.
Kitesurfing on the picturesque island lagoons of the Maldives is just about as perfect as it gets for beginners and improvers alike. The kitesurfing experience in the Maldives is unlike any other, with flat, warm waters that are protected by reef systems. The Maldives is the ideal destination for those who simply love to be in the water, be that underwater scuba diving or flying along its turquoise surface windsurfing, sailing or kiting!
The best time to visiting the Maldives for a kitesurf holidays is between May and October when the south-westerly winds arrive, averaging between 15 and 22 knots. This is not like some of our other super wind reliable destinations, as there are likely to be mornings with no wind, and some no wind days. However, when there is wind, the Maldives is an amazing kitesurf destination.
The Maldives is a renowned destination for water lovers. While based at your Maldives island resort you will also be able to enjoy a variety of other water sports including diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, SUPing, flyboarding, wakeboarding, parasailing, fishing, sailing and kayaking. Surfing is also offered at a number of the resorts with March and April being the best times of year to surf.
The Maldives resorts will never fail to wow you and whether you are after a hotel with great cuisine and a variety of dining and entertainment offerings, a quiet retreat where you can practice yoga and get in touch with nature, or a family-friendly establishment complete with kids clubs and children's programmes, Planet Kitesurf will be able to tailor-make the best holiday for your needs.
