Welcome to PAJE KITESURF CENTRE and this incredibly beautiful tropical kite-heaven and the perfect location for kiting in  Zanzibar. A flat-water natural lagoon, waist deep turquoise sandy bottom water and of course friendly wind. The reef itself offers small waves for the more experienced. 

This fully stocked kite centre offers lessons, rental, storage and a shop with equipment and accessories. IKO-certified instructors will lead you through the normal beginner and refresher course and teach strapless and freestyle clinics for those wishing to learn to jump, make their first backroll, un-hook, all the way through to nailing those passes.

In the Lagoon - The lagoons on low and neap tides offer butter flat free style pools that keep even the hungriest of pros satisfied and on the other hand offer the perfect place for beginners to do their first meters on the board. There is plenty of space so the two don’t interfere with each other. Paje is also one of the easiest places for intermediate riders who have done a kite course and now just need the time on the water to become more confident and practice the water start. For more confident riders they have professional lessons in wave riding and freestyle, which will make it that much easier for you to reach that level you dreamt off.

In the Waves - 40km of untouched coral reef parallel to the palm tree, white sand coastline offer head high waves with occasional visits from curious dolphins and whales. It’s the perfect place for beginner wave riders and like a skate park for the pros. We will have everything on offer for so you can progress with your kiting and return home with the sensation of achievement and having learnt something new.

Downwinders - If the wind is on, they offer and organise kite trips and downwinders around the island from the majestic sand islands in the west to the pristine endless coastline of the east.

None wind activities - If there is no wind, there are many activities to keep you entertained and make sure that you will return home with many good memories of Zanzibar. To mention just some:

Storage & Centre Services

This service will allow you to store your kitesurf equipment at the centre, and often also includes free rescue service assuming you are riding upwind level or above.

Note:

Rescue service is normally limited to 1 rescue per day assuming you are an independent kiter, able to ride up wind. Local charges may apply for extra rescues.

For Storage and rescue services, you may be required to produce a VDWS/IKO/RYA or equivalent licence to prove your ability (For Egypt this is mandatory, and if unable to provide you will need to do a skills test and pay for a licence locally)

Group lessons are great value for money and lots of fun, but if you are looking for rapid progression, we recommend upgrading to private or semi-private lessons (see other courses, or please call us for advice).

Group kitesurf lessons are normally upto a maximum of 4 students per instructor.  The two students normally share a kite. Lessons are normally taken in 2 to 3 hour sessions, but depend on the local wind and sea conditions. Some centres will shorten the hours if they have less students as they will be able to cover the same course structure in a shorter time. Lessons are dependent on local conditions.

Note:

It is generally known that in group lessons clients will share equipment and that hours may be reduced if less than 4 people on the course. If the school is not able to provide you with all, or part of the course, due to low wind (or adverse weather), please ensure you get written confirmation from them so we may credit you according to the terms & conditions of the kitesurf school. The general rule is that if the school is unable to provide you with the lessons, they will offer you an alternative service or a credit, or a refund.

Kitesurf Semi Private Instruction (incl. equipment)

Semi-Private lessons are a maximum of 2 students per instructor, meaning fast progression. The lessons include all equipment and are designed to take you from total beginner to up and riding. We normally suggest at least 10 hours to get the up on the board doing short runs. Lessons are normally in 2 - 3-hour sessions, but dependent on local conditions.  

Note:

We will schedule your course to start on your first full day, but you must remain available to the school to work around local wind and sea conditions, as well as instructor availability.

Private 1-1 kitesurf instruction is the best and fastest way to learn to kitesurf, improve, or master a specific trick or move. Lessons are normally in 1-2 hour sessions, but you can discuss this with your personal instructor.

Kitesurfing Lessons with a personal instructor gives you the opportunity to have a 1-on-1 interaction with your instructor to help you learn at a pace that is driven by you. The Learn To Kitesurf course aims to get you riding, while also teaching you how to read the conditions and utilise your equipment safely and correctly. 

You will start with the basics; this includes setup of your equipment, safety features that you will utilise and how to fly a small 2metre trainer kite. When your instructor feels you are ready you can then head to the water. On day one you will only be using the kite and not go on the board just yet. Entering the water is when the fun starts! Here you will be taught how to properly fly an inflatable kitesurfing kite, how to control your kite and what to do if you crash it in the water. On day one you will be comfortable flying the kite and know what to do in any situation.

You will then move on to the board lessons. What does that mean? Well it is time to get up on the board now. You will practice using the kite to generate pull and you will learn how to get the kite to pull you without the board first. The idea is to get used to how the kite behaves when asked to pull you. Once confident doing this you will learn how to put the board on your feet and after that, how to get up on the board. Most people will manage to do a few metres on the board by the end of the course.

Note:

You don’t need to be super-fit to kitesurf and the kit is lightweight, so you don’t need lots of muscle strength either. But of course, a decent level of fitness will help you to progress faster. Your instructor will be there to support you, coach you, and more importantly, keep you safe through the learning process.

Equipment Rental

Daily kitesurf unlimited rental, with choice of boards and kites, bar included. The range of equipment will vary from each different kitesurf school, so sometimes the exact kite size may not be available. Kitesurf rental packages are great if you want to experiment with different types of equipment before you decide to invest in your own, or if you just don't want toe hassle of taking your own equipment. 

The quality of kitesurf rental equipment will vary from each different sport centre. Take a look at the sport centre details for more information on this. if you are not sure then you can always call us. We only work with the best kitesurf centres in each resort and do our best to visit every centre we offer. 

Note:

You must be able to demonstrate safe setup and use of the equipment, and be able to ride upwind (most of the time). If the centre feels that you are not yet ready to kite independently they may swap out some of the rental value for instruction.

Damage Insurance is not included and should be paid locally
