Kitesurfing at Dakhla Attitude
The kite centre at Dakhla Attitude is on the beach next to the rooms, so you can pretty much fall out of bed onto the water. There's a huge flat area straight off the beach, which makes it an easy place to learn, and beginners and improvers come on here faster than almost anywhere we know. Teaching follows the IKO course structure, on North kites and boards. Lessons are mainly in English and French.
Dakhla is a strong wind spot, so 8 to 12 m kites cover most days, with the odd lighter spell. The wind blows all year, and even in December and January, the lightest months, it's 60% reliable. Children under 15 have private lessons, with a parent on site while they're out.
Once you're riding independently, the speed spot is close by, with butter-flat water, and you can kite round to it when the tide allows. Intermediate and advanced riders can do the 13 km downwinder to the White Dune. This end of the lagoon now has around five kite schools, so on busy days it pays to ride a little downwind for space.
Dakhla Attitude
Dakhla Attitude was the first accommodation to be built on the lagoon in 2003, and they certainly grabbed the best spot there, with around 300 degrees of shoreline at this peninsula. In recent years, this Northerly end of the Lagoon has become quite busy, but due to the unique position of DA, there is still good space here for all. The famous 'speed spot' is walkable from this properly, or a short boat ride away.
In 2024, the property has seen many improvements, including upgraded 'premium category rooms', a completely new accommodation area called 'speed spot', and a superb new restaurant and bar area. Their wake park is being replaced with padel courts later in 2024.
This property is not only an amazing kitesurf spot, but it is the best option for beginners to improve their wing foiling due to the flat, deep water straight in front. It is also home to one of only 2 stocked Windsurf centres in Dakhla (the other being at the luxury La Tour D'Eole).
There is a lively and fun atmosphere at the property, so it is a good choice for solo travellers especially. For families, they may prefer the new Speed Spot rooms which are in a quieter location.
All in all, although there are higher standard properties for those wanting luxury, Dakhla Attitude is better than it has ever been for 2024.
This resort uses three different accommodation areas: Dragon Camp, Windhunter Camp and Speed Spot.
Dragon Camp: So-called due to the view over to 'Dragon Island', this is composed of standard, premium (new), and the top VIP bungalows built on four levels - all with great views over the lagoon (although the VIP has unparalleled views). Dragon rooms are closest to the main facilities of the property including the restaurant, beach bar and sports centres
Windhunter Camp: The Windhunter Camp is 500m from the Dragon Camp and the restaurant (5 min walk) in a wilder area near nature and the wind. You can launch your kite straight in front of you from these rooms, although the kitesurf school is a few minutes walk up the beach. At Windhunter, there are standard and new premium room options.
Speed Spot: This is a new development for 2024, consisting of both standard and large premium rooms. There are newly planted gardens around the rooms, with views over to the Speed spot. These rooms will work best for those looking for a quieter location, a little away from the main property, a 5 - 10 minute stroll to the restaurant and sport centres
