Diani Kitesurf Holidays Overview

Kitesurfing In Diani

The reef that runs pretty much down the whole coast of Kenya is just 300-400 metres offshore at Diani and this creates an astounding lagoon between the reef and the beach. The warm, flat water is perfect for beginners and for blasting. The reef also provides a playground for the more adventurous as it picks up the swell for ramps and wave riding.



DIANI BEACH This is an astounding, deserted beach and the lagoon is much deeper, with windsurf and kitesurfing being possible at all states of tide (except for extreme spring-tide). Wave-sailing is also excellent at Galu at mid to low-tide when the wave is steepest. We can arrange transport from Diani to Galu if required (10 mins) or if you are staying a Kite Village it is right outside your door.



GALU BEACH This is an astounding, deserted beach and the lagoon is much deeper, with windsurf and kitesurfing being possible at all states of tide (except for extreme spring-tide). Wave-sailing is also excellent at Galu at mid to low-tide when the wave is steepest. We can arrange transport from Diani to Galu if required (10 mins) or if you are staying a Kite Village it is right outside your door.

The best time to visit Kenya for wind is late July to September and then December to March.

Climate In Diani

Kenya experiences ideal holiday weather for most of the year, with the exception of April, May and June, which are seasonally subject to the long rains. Short rains can occur in November, but do not last long. The heat of summer is seasonally often cooled by windy weather, resulting in pleasant sea breezes, particularly on the north and east coasts. Being close to the equator, the islands are warm all year around, but officially summer and winter peak in December and June respectively.

The general standard of accommodation is reasonable and excellent value for money. The hotels that we have elect to offer are just in the higher end of the market as this is where the best value and service is to be found.
