Kitesurf Holidays Anse Le Raie

Planet Kitesurf introduced Northern Mauritius following an increased demand for an alternative to the most famous spot of Le Morne, in the south of the island, and Belle Mare in the West. Although we regard Le Morne as one of the best kitesurf locations in the world, it can get quite busy, especially in high season. So if you want to enjoy the amazing wind conditions and atmosphere of Mauritius, but with far fewer kiters on the water, Anse Le Raie in Northern Mauritius is worth a look. Another strong selling point for this part of Mauritius is the big range of amenities, shopping, and nightlife that can be found a short drive away in Grand Baie.

As always, here at Planet Kitesurf we are very particular about the accommodation that we offer, and we will only recommend properties that we have personally checked and know to be good. We also make a conscious effort to avoid the package holiday type of hotels as, although they can be cheap, they come at a price! In Northern Mauritius we have some superb high quality boutique style beachfront properties that are perfect for couples, while others have some fantastic family facilities.

Kitesurfing In Anse Le Raie

An outer reef belt in this part of northern Mauritius creates a vast lagoon reaching out almost 2.5km from the shoreline. The water in this lagoon is not shallow but is protected from the waves by the reef, so creating a huge flat water playground. The wind is generally side/onshore at the kitesurf spot, making it a very safe location. Beginners will learn in a small protected bay with shallow waters.

For the more advanced there are some small waves on the outer reef. If you want bigger waves, and the swell forecast looks good, we can arrange a day trip to the South at Le Morne, home of the world class waves such as One Eye and Manawa.
