Why we rate this centre

Established in 2011, Zanzibar Kite Paradise is a kite school located on the paradise spot of Paje, within the Zanzibar Luxury Villas and Spa

Aware that you want a smooth and stress-free experience while you are on Zanzibar, the VDWS and IKO certificated teachers will make sure all the safety is taken while you are enjoying this fantastic sport. Staff work hard to ensure the best quality of teaching, equipment and service through the renewal of our equipment, careful crafting of our offer and selection of instructors.

The location is one of the finest in the world, with a flat, shallow lagoon directly in front of the kite school which not only ensures a fast and progressive learning curve for students but also provides the ultimate training ground for intermediates or experienced riders wanting to expand on their technique. Warm tropical water and steady winds accompany this setting making Zanzibar the perfect European winter destination.

Important

Kitesurfing is a seasonal activity. The school is open yearly from June 15th to September 15th and fromDecember 15th to March 15th. It is still possible to rent and kitesurf in the low seasons, but they do not guarantee supervision or assistance. Lessons are available subject to instructor availability and weather conditions.

Kitesurf Lessons
Kitesurf Private Learn To Kitesurf Course (incl. equipment)
hour(s)
From £400

Kitesurfing Lessons with a personal instructor gives you the opportunity to have a 1-on-1 interaction with your instructor to help you learn at a pace that is driven by you. The Learn To Kitesurf course aims to get you riding, while also teaching you how to read the conditions and utilise your equipment safely and correctly.

You will start with the basics; this includes setup of your equipment, safety features that you will utilise and how to fly a small 2metre trainer kite. When your instructor feels you are ready you can then head to the water. On day one you will only be using the kite and not go on the board just yet. Entering the water is when the fun starts! Here you will be taught how to properly fly an inflatable kitesurfing kite, how to control your kite and what to do if you crash it in the water. On day one you will be comfortable flying the kite and know what to do in any situation.

You will then move on to the board lessons. What does that mean? Well it is time to get up on the board now. You will practice using the kite to generate pull and you will learn how to get the kite to pull you without the board first. The idea is to get used to how the kite behaves when asked to pull you. Once confident doing this you will learn how to put the board on your feet and after that, how to get up on the board. Most people will manage to do a few metres on the board by the end of the course.

Note:

You don’t need to be super-fit to kitesurf and the kit is lightweight, so you don’t need lots of muscle strength either. But of course, a decent level of fitness will help you to progress faster. Your instructor will be there to support you, coach you, and more importantly, keep you safe through the learning process.
