Overview Baglio Oneto

Nestled in the Marsala countryside, the Baglio Oneto Resort and Wines Hotel, an ex-wine and oil production factory, dating from the eighteenth century, has recently been restored into a fantastic 5-star hotel.

Baglio Oneto is surrounded by the fertile countryside of Marsala, only a few minutes from Trapani, the medieval village of Erice and the Stagnone natural reserve including Mozia and Saline. The kitesurf centre at Lo Stagnone is located within a 5-10 minute drive.
The noun “Baglio” comes from Balarm (fortress house), indicating those houses built in defence from pirate attacks, but the name also comes from the Latin word Ballium, meaning courtyard surrounded by tall buildings or walls. Oneto is a name which comes from the family of the owners - wine and oil producers, descendants from the Consul of Genoa Odonetto of which historical records date back to 1300.
Baglio Oneto was built in the late eighteenth century when, following the trade embargo against Spain by Napoleon, valued vineyards in the Marsala countryside were on the same sun band as the great Spanish vineyards.
The resort has been designed and built keeping intact the architectural identity of the ancient Baglio, building new buildings at a respectful distance, because they did not want to alter the architectural integrity. The rooms are connected to the main building via a tunnel in iron and glass and arranged around a new outdoor courtyard with a barrel-shaped pool that allows you to enjoy the beautiful sea landscape with Saline, Mozia and the Egadi Islands.
In the cellar of Baglio Oneto, which houses the barrels of wine, and the old tools used for working the land and its products, you can taste the production of wine, liquors and olive oil of the property.
