Planet offers two kitesurf schools in Le Morne. One is based on the beach at the JW Marriott Resort, and the other is based at the kitesurf training lagoon. The two centres are located a 20 minute walk from each other although a payable speed boat shuttle service is on offer if you are staying at the JW Marriott and want to use the lagoon.

Based at the Le Morne kitesurf lagoon, the main kitesurf school provides the perfect location for training with a huge space and a vast, shallow, flat water lagoon in which to learn the sport. The wind here is side to side on shore - the perfect direction. There are many kitesurf schools in this area but our partner centre is the only fixed kitesurf station at the spot and sets the standard. The kitesurf centre in Le Morne stocks all the newest kitesurf equipment at great rental prices.

Directly off the beach at the kitesurf centre you will find a turquoise lagoon and shallow water. The spot of Le Morne is extremely well suited to beginners as the off-shore reef provides a sheltered flat water lagoon and the perfect conditions for learning to kitesurf. The whole lagoon is surrounded by a reef, which is 600 metres off the beach. In much of the lagoon the water is shallow enough to stand, providing further confidence for those new to kitesurfing, however, we do recommend wearing shoes in the lagoon. Within the lagoon, there is enough space for all, even at the busiest times. Outside the reef you can find two wave spots: “Little Reef” with modest waves and “Manawa” for experienced kiters. The famous “One Eye” is only suitable for experts.

On the rare occasion when there is no wind the centre also offers many SUP boards which are free to use when pre-booking rental with Planet Kitesurf. Moreover, Mauritius has several excellent surfing spots, which can easily be reached from the centre.

It is crucial that you observe the on-site team's instructions, as the current, tides and waves may be somewhat dangerous, depending on conditions - and your safety is the top priority! Foil-training and kitesurf strapless training is also offered here. The minimum level for kitesurf-foil-training: able to kite on a strapless board. It is extremely important to pre-book any lessons with us at the time of your holiday booking to ensure availability of an instructor during your stay.
