This picture-perfect spot caters to every level of rider—from complete beginners to advanced freestylers and dedicated foilers. The upper section of the lagoon offers comfortable waist-deep water, making it an ideal environment for learning and progression. With the wind blowing cleanly over the beach, the lagoon transforms into a haven of butter-flat water, perfect for freestyle tricks and smooth, effortless cruising.

The deeper lower half of the lagoon is the go-to area for riders ready to fly across the water on a kite foil or wing foil, with plenty of space and consistent wind to perfect new skills.

Just 50 metres across the sand lies the turquoise Indian Ocean. In the summer months, a reef sitting roughly 200 metres offshore creates playful waves—ideal for surfboard riders and anyone looking for a change of scenery. Riders can bring their own board or rent from the centre's high-quality quiver. For those keen to learn, instructors offer wave-riding lessons with radio communication for real-time coaching. The same expert support is available for wing foiling and kite foiling, ensuring endless fun in the ocean swells.

For guests eager to explore even more, the centre also offers a variety of downwinders and kite safaris to the region’s most exciting and remote spots—perfect for discovering Kalpitiya’s incredible diversity both on and off the water.

With a fun, supportive atmosphere and expert coaching, you’ll not only pick up the essential safety skills and techniques—you’ll be well on your way to becoming a confident, independent kitesurfer.

Kitesurfing
During the main season from May to September, the team at Kappaladi Kitesurf and Wingfoil centre offers two hours of instruction in the morning and another two hours in the afternoon, making the most of the region’s steady, reliable winds. For complete beginners, a 3-day (12-hour) beginner course is recommended to build strong foundations and progress with confidence. Riders with previous experience or fast learners are welcome to opt for a shorter, customised course to suit their level.

There’s no fixed rule for how quickly each student will move through the beginner syllabus. The focus is always on providing a safe, supportive learning environment where every rider can develop the skills needed to head out on the water independently and with full confidence after completing their course.

Wingfoiling
Kappaladi Kitesurf and Wingfoil centre provides both wing surf and wing foil lessons, offering a smooth and structured pathway into one of the fastest-growing water sports. Training begins with mastering wing control on a SUP—an essential first step before progressing to a foil board. With the lagoon’s waist-deep water and steady winds, students enjoy the perfect environment for learning safely and confidently before taking their first flights.

Each programme is designed for riders of all levels who want to become truly independent wing foilers, supported every step of the way by experienced instructors.

Foilboarding, kite foiling, hydrofoil kiteboarding, foil kiteboarding - you can call it many names, but it all leads to the same discipline: riding a kite with a hydrofoil board under your feet and it allows you to kite along above the surface of the water. Kitefoil is considered the next era in kitesurfing. Learn advanced maneuvers like jumps, tacks, and gybes, take an epic foil trip along the coast, or simply learn how to foil in case you have never tried it.

This course is suited to kiters who have mastered the twin tip or surfboard and are looking for a new challenge.

Kitesurfing Lessons with a personal instructor gives you the opportunity to have a 2-on-1 interaction with your instructor to help you learn at a pace that is driven by you. The Learn To Kitesurf course aims to get you riding, while also teaching you how to read the conditions and utilise your equipment safely and correctly.


You will start with the basics; this includes setup of your equipment, safety features that you will utilise and how to fly a small 2metre trainer kite. When your instructor feels you are ready you can then head to the water. On day one you will only be using the kite and not go on the board just yet. Entering the water is when the fun starts! Here you will be taught how to properly fly an inflatable kitesurfing kite, how to control your kite and what to do if you crash it in the water. On day one you will be comfortable flying the kite and know what to do in any situation.

Note:

Semi-private lessons are offered with a maximum of two people and ensure fast progression. Your course includes Kite, board, Harness, wetsuit, life jacket and insurance.

We will schedule your course to start on your first full day, but you must remain available to the school to work around local wind and sea conditions, as well as instructor availability.

Private lessons are 1-1 sessions with an instructor, meaning fast progression. The lessons include all equipment and are designed to take you from total beginner to up and riding. We normally suggest at least 6 - 8 hours to get the up on the board doing short runs. Lessons are normally in 2 - 3-hour sessions, but dependent on local conditions.

The range of equipment will vary from each different kitesurf school, so sometimes the exact kite size may not be available. Kitesurf rental packages are great if you want to experiment with different types of equipment before you decide to invest in your own, or if you just don't want toe hassle of taking your own equipment. 

The quality of kitesurf rental equipment will vary from each different sport centre. Take a look at the sport centre details for more information on this. if you are not sure then you can always call us. We only work with the best kitesurf centres in each resort and do our best to visit every centre we offer. 

Note:

You must be able to demonstrate safe setup and use of the equipment, and be able to ride upwind (most of the time). If the centre feels that you are not yet ready to kite independently they may swap out some of the rental value for instruction.

Damage Insurance is not included and should be paid locally

For Kitesurf rental of equipment, you may be required to produce a VDWS/IKO/RYA or equivalent licence to prove your ability to rent (For Egypt this is mandatory, and if unable to provide you will need to do a skills test and pay for a licence locally)
