Where the Sahara meets the Atlantic - Oasis 212 sits right on the edge of the Dakhla lagoon, on a stretch of coast where the Sahara runs straight down to the sea. It is a genuinely special setting — remote, wide open and beautiful, with the desert on one side and a vast flat lagoon on the other. This is not a crowded resort strip. One of the real advantages here is the sheer sense of space: there is room to breathe, room to ride, and none of the elbow-to-elbow feeling you get at busier spots. You are well away from the crowds, in a wild and dramatic landscape, and that space is a huge part of what makes the place work.

The kitesurf and wing foiling school - Dakhla's lagoon at Oasis 212 is one of the best places we've personally ridden. It's where you cn improve your wing foiling and learn to kitesurf, and the reason is the water. The lagoon is broad, flat and shallow, so it lies calm and glassy rather than choppy — no swell, no shore break, nothing pushing you around. For learning to kite or finding your feet on a wing foil, that flat water is everything. It lets you stand up, catch your breath and reset whenever you need to, and it rewards you the moment you get things right.

The on-site watersports centre is a big part of the experience — a fantastic wing foiling and kitesurf school with certified instructors and all the latest Duotone gear, teaching kite, wing, surf and SUP for every level from complete beginner to advanced. Whether you have never touched a kite or you are looking to sharpen your foiling, this is about as good a place to do it as you will find anywhere: reliable wind, flat uncrowded water, and a school that knows exactly how to get you progressing.

Accommodation is a collection of sustainable beachfront chalets, each around 60m², built the eco-conscious way — natural cross-ventilation, roof fans and breathable materials rather than air conditioning, so they stay comfortable and in keeping with the wild setting. Each has its own private terrace, a work desk and an in-room safe, with a shower and complimentary toiletries.

The Sea View Chalet is the pick of the bunch: 60m² sleeping up to four, with a double bed plus convertible sofas in the lounge, and direct lagoon views from the moment you wake up. The private terrace faces straight out onto the kite spot, with immediate beach access for getting on the water.

The Partial Sea View Chalet shares the same 60m² layout and capacity for up to four, with lagoon glimpses through the palms and desert, a private terrace and filtered water views — a short walk from the beach.

For solo travellers and those on a budget, the Dormitory Chalet offers four single beds in a shared 60m² space with a shared bathroom and terrace, partial sea views, and a sociable, community feel — a great way to meet other riders.

The food is excellent, and it is genuinely amazing value for money given the quality and the remoteness of the location. Stays are full board — breakfast, lunch and dinner — built on fresh, local and seasonal ingredients, with Moroccan specialities and seafood alongside plenty of vegetarian options, and generous portions throughout. The restaurant seats around 140 across indoor and outdoor tables looking out over the lagoon, and there's a café on site, Café Joséphine, for lighter bites and grab-and-go. Worth knowing: Oasis 212 is a wellness-focused, dry camp, so no alcohol is served — though guests are welcome to bring their own duty-free.

Beyond the water - There is more to Dakhla than the lagoon. The camp runs desert excursions out to the famous White Dune, fishing trips (surfcasting and spinning), and back at base there's a spa with hammam and treatments, plus daily yoga and fitness classes looking over the water. It is a proper wellness setting as much as a watersports one, which makes it easy to balance big days on the kite with slower days of rest.
