Why we rate this centre

The F-ONE Sicily Centre is a kite and wing foil school right on the spot with a large private kite area on the only sandy beach on the Lo Stagnone lagoon. 

The VDWS kite school is located in the very north of the lagoon, upwind of the numerous other small schools - but with better depth for foiling and still shallow enough for kiting

The huge, standing-depth lagoon of Lo Stagnone is the largest standing area in Europe and offers advantages for kite surfers of all levels: Here you have a lot of space on the water. Thanks to the ideal upwind location, nobody gets in your way. When you take off, you can easily align your kite and board while standing. The smooth, unwavering water makes kite surfing comfortable and offers ideal conditions for beginners, intermediates and freestylers . The bottom is sandy or loamy - there are hardly any stones. The wind mostly (70%) comes constantly from the northwest (sideshore on our beach) and is thermally strengthened - the "Termico". The lagoon also works in all other wind directions and offers around 200 kite-friendly days a year.

If you want to kitesurf with your own kite equipment, there is a small service/beach usage fee.

The F-ONE centre has a fine pool of materials. This saves you the hassle of transporting and lugging your own equipment around. We are happy to advise you on choosing the right equipment and give you tips on setting it up.

Kitesurfing Lessons with a personal instructor gives you the opportunity to have a 1-on-1 interaction with your instructor to help you learn at a pace that is driven by you. The Learn To Kitesurf course aims to get you riding, while also teaching you how to read the conditions and utilise your equipment safely and correctly.

You will start with the basics; this includes setup of your equipment, safety features that you will utilise and how to fly a small 2metre trainer kite. When your instructor feels you are ready you can then head to the water. On day one you will only be using the kite and not go on the board just yet. Entering the water is when the fun starts! Here you will be taught how to properly fly an inflatable kitesurfing kite, how to control your kite and what to do if you crash it in the water. On day one you will be comfortable flying the kite and know what to do in any situation.

Note:

You don’t need to be super-fit to kitesurf and the kit is lightweight, so you don’t need lots of muscle strength either. But of course, a decent level of fitness will help you to progress faster. Your instructor will be there to support you, coach you, and more importantly, keep you safe through the learning process. We will schedule your course to start on your first full day, but you must remain available to the school to work around local wind and sea conditions, as well as instructor availability.

Private lessons are 1-1 sessions with an instructor, meaning fast progression. The lessons include all equipment and are designed to take you from total beginner to up and riding. We normally suggest at least 6 - 8 hours to get the up on the board doing short runs. Lessons are normally in 2 - 3-hour sessions, but dependent on local conditions.

The range of equipment will vary from each different kitesurf school, so sometimes the exact kite size may not be available. Kitesurf rental packages are great if you want to experiment with different types of equipment before you decide to invest in your own, or if you just don't want toe hassle of taking your own equipment. 

The quality of kitesurf rental equipment will vary from each different sport centre. Take a look at the sport centre details for more information on this. if you are not sure then you can always call us. We only work with the best kitesurf centres in each resort and do our best to visit every centre we offer. 

Note:

You must be able to demonstrate safe setup and use of the equipment, and be able to ride upwind (most of the time). If the centre feels that you are not yet ready to kite independently they may swap out some of the rental value for instruction.
