Why we rate this centre

The Langebaan lagoon is one of the biggest lagoons in the world, with bright blue waters and a large waist deep section, ideal for learning the basics of all watersports. The wind is very reliable as it is channeled between the hills around, picking up mostly at the end of the morning. Some parts have perfectly flat water, ideal for a sup session in the morning to deserted white beaches. Windsurfers and kitesurfers have the choice between flat, bumpy and wavy waters, all in very close proximity to our new Boutique Hotel. A 3 mm wetsuit or shorty is recommended.

The Kitesurf school is right at the hotel and just 150 m to the waters edge. The centre is stocked with the lastest North kites and kite boards for rental as well as providing a full range of lesson from complete begiiner up to more advanced freestyle. As with all centres, rental is subject to a minimum level of 'riding upwind' for safety, or if you have completed the 2 day beginner course plus the 1 day improver course with the centre.

Any rentals at this centre have to pay for an assessment to make sure they can kite independently and safely. During the assessment, you will be explained how the two kite spots work (do’s and don’t’s), the currents/tides, the rescue boat service, etc. This is once off so you come back again, then you don’t have to be assessed again.

Kitesurf Lessons
Kitesurf Private Learn To Kitesurf Course (incl. equipment)
hour(s)
From £343

Kitesurfing Lessons with a personal instructor gives you the opportunity to have a 1-on-1 interaction with your instructor to help you learn at a pace that is driven by you. The Learn To Kitesurf course aims to get you riding, while also teaching you how to read the conditions and utilise your equipment safely and correctly.

You will start with the basics; this includes setup of your equipment, safety features that you will utilise and how to fly a small 2metre trainer kite. When your instructor feels you are ready you can then head to the water. On day one you will only be using the kite and not go on the board just yet. Entering the water is when the fun starts! Here you will be taught how to properly fly an inflatable kitesurfing kite, how to control your kite and what to do if you crash it in the water. On day one you will be comfortable flying the kite and know what to do in any situation.

You will then move on to the board lessons. What does that mean? Well it is time to get up on the board now. You will practice using the kite to generate pull and you will learn how to get the kite to pull you without the board first. The idea is to get used to how the kite behaves when asked to pull you. Once confident doing this you will learn how to put the board on your feet and after that, how to get up on the board. Most people will manage to do a few metres on the board by the end of the course.

Note:

You don’t need to be super-fit to kitesurf and the kit is lightweight, so you don’t need lots of muscle strength either. But of course, a decent level of fitness will help you to progress faster. Your instructor will be there to support you, coach you, and more importantly, keep you safe through the learning process.
